“Friends” fans have been patiently waiting for this one.

The series co-creator Marta Kauffman told The Wrap that the reunion, which is slated to premiere on HBO Max, plans to start shooting this August.

“We are hoping to be able to shoot in August, if all is well and there is no early second wave and the studio is open,” Kauffman said of the special, which will reunite the original main cast of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc.

Kauffman will also return, as will David Krane, her co-creator of the show which ran from 1994 thru 2004.

The “Friends” reunion was originally slated to premiere on HBO Max upon the streaming platform’s May 27 launch, but was postponed due to the pandemic.

Bob Greenblatt, chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment, which owns HBO Max, said last month that the plan is to start shooting the reunion at the end of summer, at Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank on Stage 24, where the original series was filmed.

Last week, Kauffman opened up about what she feels the original series could have done differently to be a more diverse show.

“I wish I knew then what I knew today, I would have made very different decisions,” Kauffman said during a panel at the ATX Television Festival.

She added: “We’ve always encouraged people of diversity in our company, but I didn’t do enough. Now all I can think about is what can I do, what can I do differently. How can I run my show in a new way? That’s something I wish I knew when I started showrunning but all the way up through last year.”
