Sir Elton John is going to stop tickling the ivory keys in front of audiences. While speaking to a crowd in New York the pianist told them he would stop touring to prioritize his family life, but not before a farewell tour.
And in typical Sir Elton fashion, it is not small and quite. A tour of 300 dates spanning three years will be the final tour for the knighted musician.
“I always thought I was going to be like Ray Charles, BB King – on the road forever,” he said. “My priorities have changed. We had children and I changed our lives. That doesn’t mean to say I’m not going to be creative. but I’m not going to travel.”
Though he is going to stop touring, he said he won’t stop creating.
“I’m not stopping music. I’ll hopefully be making more records. I’ll be writing more musicals. But mostly, I’ll be taking my kid to soccer academy – which is the most important thing.”
