As of September, all Texans will be allowed to carry blades that are longer that the currently allowed 5.5 inches thanks to HB1935, a bill signed into law last month by Gov. Greg Abbott.
“Carrying a sword down the street, carrying a Bowie knife down the street … completely legal. Machetes if you want to,” said Ahnna Escobedo, general manager at Fort Worth’s House of Blades. “Texas move right there, sure.”
As expected, this law will have a few limitations as the blades will not be allowed to be in your person if you are heading into prisons, schools, hospitals, bars, amusement parks, sports events or places of worship.
